OKIRU is a network of young Asian-Australians working towards sharing stories, learnings and experiences to connect and empower our communities.
OKIRU is translated to "Get Up" in Japanese. The inspiration for the name OKIRU came from the founder's stories of rising from the challenges of life, throughout they have a mission to inspire and encourage others to push through and rise up from challenges.
The design is inspired by the Japanese flag and the iconic Mt. Fuji. These symbols represent rising up just as the sun does and overcoming the mountain. The peak of the mountain is an arrow shape to represent upward movement.
